Brian Ferentz provides injury update for pair of Hawkeye receivers
After a weak performance in Week 1, Iowa was hoping to have some help return to the field for the Week 2 matchup with Iowa State on Saturday.
During Week 1, the Hawkeye’s offense looked less than stellar, and not being able to capitalize on the opponent’s two safeties and shanked 17-yard punt had Iowa fans up in arms. Walking away with no offensive points is not going to cut it for a program coming off a B1G West title.
Unfortunately, it appears as if backup might not be there soon enough.
"Hopefully we'll get the cavalry coming at some point" at WR, Brian Ferentz says. But this won't be that week. And getting K Johnson/Ragaini back and Brecht up to speed doesn't necessarily solve Iowa's offensive woes.

Although it might not solve all the offensive issues, the return of Keagan Johnson and Nico Ragaini is an important piece of the puzzle for the Hawkeyes. Johnson and Ragaini were the top producers at the WR position in 2021, and the position is vital to Iowa’s offense.
Without Johnson and Ragaini, the Hawkeyes failed to score one offensive TD, having to settle for two safeties and a field goal in the lackluster win in Week 1.
For Iowa, the offense needs to show it can help produce. We’ll see if the Hawkeyes can produce without two of their stars.
