Cade McNamara has issued a statement regarding his status ahead of Iowa’s Week 13 contest against Maryland.

The veteran quarterback has not played since suffering a concussion against Northwestern back on Oct. 26. He said in a statement responding to “rumors” about his status that he has every intention of returning to play in Iowa’s final regular season game against Nebraska in Week 14.

However, McNamara said he has not been cleared to practice and thus did not make the trip to College Park for Iowa’s game against the Terps.

“I have been working with the University of Iowa doctors and trainers, a concussion specialist focused on vision training, as well as engaging in hyperbaric treatements as frequent as possible,” McNamara said in a statement. “I have every intention to play versus Nebraska next Friday night and I am confident that my teammates will return from Maryland with a win.”

Here’s his statement in full:

With McNamara and Brendan Sullivan sidelined due to injury, Jackson Stratton is expected to get the start vs. Maryland. Stratton completed 3-of-6 passes for 28 yards and had 1 14-yard rush in Iowa’s loss to UCLA in the Hawkeyes’ last game.

Iowa and Maryland will kick off at 12 p.m. ET on Saturday afternoon.
