Caitlin Clark is officially the NCAA’s all-time leading scorer.

Clark surpassed LSU legend Pete Maravich on Sunday afternoon by scoring her 18th point of the day vs. Ohio State. Maravich’s record of 3,667 points stood tall for over 50 years before Clark took the top spot on Sunday.

Clark broke the record with a pair of technical free throws to close out the first half. Here’s the moment with FOX’s Gus Johnson on the call:

Clark scored 6 points on 7 shots in the 1st quarter of play as the Buckeyes largely forced her into a facilitator role. Clark also dished out 5 assists in the 1st quarter. Clark came out firing in the 2nd quarter, scoring a quick 8 points to get closer to the record. A layup late in the 2nd quarter put her within striking distance of the record and then she finished the job the charity stripe.

Last month, Clark became the all-time leading scorer in women’s NCAA basketball history by passing former Washington great Kelsey Plum for that honor.

Some of the greatest women’s basketball players of all-time were in attendance to watch Clark break the record. The list includes Maya Moore, the legendary from UConn player who won 2 national titles with the Huskies before going on to win 4 WNBA championships.

Moore’s presence was a surprise for Clark — here’s video of their interaction:

Lynette Woodard, the former Kansas star who scored 3,649 points during her time with the Jayhawks, was also in the building. The Iowa crowd gave Woodard a standing ovation during a stoppage in the 1st quarter:

Clark is playing in her final regular season home game at Carver-Hawkeye Arena on Sunday. Although she has an extra year of eligibility, Clark announced earlier this week that she will be entering the 2024 WNBA Draft.

As Clark noted in her announcement, Iowa has a lot to play for this March. The Hawkeyes are the No. 6-ranked team in the country entering Sunday and will likely be in contention to earn a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament. Last season, Iowa made it all the way to the national championship game — a run that included a Final Four-upset over then-No. 1 South Carolina.

Iowa is looking to avenge its early-season loss to Ohio State on Sunday. The Buckeyes have also clinched the Big Ten regular season title, but these programs could meet again in the Big Ten Tournament next week.
