Caitlin Clark is having a historic run for Iowa and continues to dominate in the 2023-24 season. The reigning consensus national player of the year is making another run at the honor, and the Hawkeyes are 11-1 overall to start the season.

Regardless of how this season plays out, Clark will have a massive decision at the end of the year. As a result of the extra year of COVID eligibility, she could return to Iowa for one more season as opposed to entering the WNBA Draft.

In a conversation with former Duke head coach Mike Krzyzewski, Clark admitted it’s a tough decision, mainly because both options have a lot of positives to them:

“Either leave and go to the WNBA Draft or stay here for another season. It’s a hard decision because in my eyes it’s like a win-win,” Clark admitted. “I can go and kind of live out a lifelong dream, or I can stay here and be in college, start working on my master’s, or start working on another degree while playing college basketball with some of my best friends.”

At the end of the day, Clark is focused on living in the moment as to not get too stressed out:

“That’s what almost makes it so hard is both seem so amazing. It’s cool, obviously COVID has allowed me the opportunity to even have this choice. But I’m just trying to live in the moment,” said Clark. “It’s a big decision and I try not to get too stressed out about it.”

Regardless of whether or not Clark leaves after this season or next, she is already a Hawkeye legend and one of the best players in the history of college basketball. We’ll see what her true legacy becomes down the road, but she’s already one of the giants in the world of women’s sports.
