Caitlin Clark expected to decline 3-point competition at NBA All-Star Game, per report
Caitlin Clark has been rumored for sometime to be possibly being involved in the NBA All-Star Game festivities this season. Fans have been clamoring for a shooting contest potentially seeing Clark team up with Sabrina Ionescu against the Splash Brothers in a 3-point shooting contest.
While the fans may want it, that may not be happening as Clark is expected to decline any invitation for the All-Star game, according to a report from Sports Business Journal. Clark most shoots catch-and-shoot or off-the-dribble 3-point attempts, while the ASG would ask her to shoot from a ball rack.
Clark was drafted No. 1 last season by the Indiana Fever, and quickly took her new team to new heights as she led the Fever to the playoffs. She finished with 19.2 points, 8.4 assists and 5.7 rebounds en route to being named the Rookie of the Year.
During her collegiate days at Iowa, she averaged 28.4 PPG and 8.2 APG, while shooting 37.7% from the 3-point line during her 4 years in college.
The NBA All-Star Game has lost much of its luster over the past few seasons. The game itself has been very difficult for fans to watch, while the dunk contest isn’t what it used to be as well. The league is looking for new ways to make the weekend more entertaining, and having someone as popular as Clark is something that Adam Silver would love to have.
