This award has been handed out annually since 1983. Clark is the first women’s basketball player to take home the honor since Iowa’s Megan Gustafson in 2019.
Other women’s basketball players to take home the Big Ten female athlete of the year trophy include Rachel Banham (Minnesota), Jessica Davenport (Ohio State), Kelly Mazzante (Penn State) and Katie Douglas Purdue).
Clark is the third Iowa female athlete to win the award, joining Gustafson and field hockey star Kristy Gleason (1994).
Clark will return to Iowa for next season and will have an opportunity to defender her crown as the Big Ten female athlete of the year. Only 2 athletes have won the honor multiple times: Wisconsin volleyball star Dana Rettke (2020, 2022) and Wisconsin track & field standout Suzy Favor (1988-90)
