Caitlin Clark knows what awaits Iowa on Sunday. After a long season and dramatic NCAA Tournament journey, there is just one game remaining to decide the national championship.

While previewing that matchup with LSU, Clark admitted Saturday afternoon that it is a bit sad to realize the season is coming to a close. However, if the season is coming to end, Clark asks why not produce one more victory before cutting down the nets.

“Yeah, I think I had that calmness about myself last night,” said Clark in regard to Friday’s dramatic upset of South Carolina. “I had a belief in my teammates. I thought we played really good basketball. I have to do the same thing on Sunday. I understand there’s only 40 more minutes left in my season, which is kind of sad because it’s been so much fun. But why not go cut down another net?”

Clark was also asked about balancing Iowa’s accomplishment against the Gamecocks with the realization there is still one more game to go to a title. She admitted the schedule helps players keep the main thing in focus, but Clark is keenly aware of the goal ahead.

Clark went on to say it’s not hard to get up to play for a national title:

“I think it helped that we didn’t get back home to the hotel until 12:30. So our only option was to go to sleep,” said Clark. “We weren’t up just thinking about what we had done and things like that. I think like Coach Bluder said is enjoy this. What you did is special. But at the same time, why not win one more? That’s what we’re here to do is win another basketball game.

“I have all the confidence in this group that we can do that. It’s the National Championship, that not hard to wake up for. It’s not hard to give your heart and soul for. That’s exactly what this group is going to do, and that’s what we’ve done all year.”

Sunday’s game between Iowa and LSU is set for 3:30 pm ET on ABC.
