Caitlin Clark was back in Des Moines Saturday night, leading Iowa in a special matchup against Cleveland State. Being back in her hometown was always bound to be special, and Saturday’s game was no different.
Clark also delivered one of her best outings of the season in the 104-75 victory for the Hawkeyes. She scored a game-high 38 points to go with 5 rebounds, 5 assists and 2 steals in a complete performance for Clark. Clark even drilled 9-of-16 attempts from 3-point range, including one of her patented deep-range shots from well outside the arc.

After the game, Clark was asked about the experience, and she admitted it was a special event that left her with chills prior to the game. Overall, Clark reflected on the night with gratitude for those in attendance and the efforts of everyone who helped make it happen.
“It’s so special. this place. Like I just ran out when we first got here and I had chills all over my body,” Clark said. “I’m just really grateful that they support women’s basketball like this, support our team like this. I had a lot of fans and family in the crowd tonight supporting me, so it’s really special.
“I’m thankful for our coaching staff that wanted to bring me back here and have this opportunity to play. And thank you to our administration for making this happen. It’s easier said than done, so I’m just really grateful and thankful for all these people.”
