Stalker of Caitlin Clark arrested, charged with felony with allegations of violent messages
Caitlin Clark recently completed her historic rookie season in the WNBA. Unfortunately, she was reportedly the target of one man from Texas who was recently arrested after allegedly stalking and sending messages of a violent nature to Clark.
According to court documents obtained by FOX 59 in Indianapolis, Michael Thomas Lewis, a 55-year-old man from Texas, was arrested on Sunday. He is charged with one count of stalking threatening sexual battery or death, a Level 5 felony.
Lewis allegedly used his X account to send sexually violent messages to Clark and drove to Indianapolis after. According to the documents, the FBI traced the most recent messages to find Lewis’s location in Indy with his presence in the city “especially concerning” with the nature of his messages and the fact he resides in Texas.
Clark did speak with police regarding the harassment, according to the court documents. She indicated she was fearful since receiving the messages and began altering her appearance when in public as a result.
“It takes a lot of courage for women to come forward in these cases, which is why many don’t,” said Marion County Prosecutor Ryan Mears. “In doing so, the victim is setting an example for all women who deserve to live and work in Indy without the threat of sexual violence.”
Lewis claimed his messages weren’t threatening and described them as “a joke,” “an imagination” or “fantasy” in spite of the graphic, violent and sexual nature and in spite of the fact that he traveled to Indianapolis.
Lewis could face up to 6 years in prison if found guilty on the Level 5 felony.
