Matt Leinart is no stranger to competition. The Fox Big Noon Kickoff show co-host issued a challenge of his own on Monday.

The former USC Trojan and 7 year NFL veteran tweeted Iowa women’s basketball superstar Caitlin Clark on Monday, prodding Clark into a 3-point competition.

Clark quickly accepted the offer, saying that she would see Leinart on Friday.

Leinart should probably be concerned about the competition. While he knows a football field, the basketball floor is Clark’s turf. Clark averaged 27.5 points, 8.3 assists and 7.9 rebounds per game while shooting nearly 46% from the floor in 2021. She ended the season with 5 triple-double performances and surpassed the 40-point mark 3 times during the year.

Earlier in 2021 Clark made basketball history, passing the 1,500-point mark in just 56 career games. She was the first Division I player — men’s or women’s — to accomplish that feat so quickly in over 20 years.  Clark was named the B1G Player of the Year after scoring 38 points, 11 assists, 6 rebounds and collecting 3 steals in a 104-80 final game victory that helped the Hawkeyes secure a share of the league championship.
