Cooper DeJean is a huge playmaker for Iowa’s defense. He stepped up once again early against Rutgers.

Already at 2 interceptions on the season entering Week 4, DeJean added another one vs. the Scarlet Knights. While Iowa’s defensive front did apply the DeJean did just about everything else on this play.

DeJean snagged the pick with a perfect over-the-shoulder grab. But getting his feet under him 45 yards from the end zone, the return was far from a cakewalk.

DeJean broke multiple tackles – and got a few blocks – as he rolled back all the way for a touchdown. It goes down as the first touchdown and pick-6 of DeJean’s young career, one that is already off to a flying start with the Hawkeyes.

With a scuffling offense and playing a defensively sound team like Rutgers, Iowa could use more plays like this from the defense for the win.
