Cooper DeJean is one of the most valuable players on Iowa’s roster, but the star cornerback and special teams contributor could be sidelined for a while.

According to a report from David Eickholt with 247 Sports, DeJean was injured during Wednesday’s practice. Per Eickholt, DeJean is likely to miss the remainder of the regular season and his status for a potential bowl game is uncertain at this point.

Neither Iowa nor head coach Kirk Ferentz have confirmed an official injury to DeJean.

Last season, DeJean made a name for himself with 75 total tackles, 3 TFL, 5 interceptions with 3 returned for touchdowns and 8 pass breakups. While teams have been less willing to test DeJean in coverage this season, he still has 41 total tackles, 2 TFL, 2 interceptions and 5 pass breakups.

DeJean is also an ace special teams performer and is averaging 11.5 yards per punt return on 21 returns, including a touchdown against Michigan State. He also notably had a punt return touchdown waived off vs. Minnesota.

While every game is important, Iowa has clinched a share of the B1G West but needs one more win to clinch the division outright. If the Hawkeyes do clinch a trip to the B1G Championship, the team will likely face either Michigan or Ohio State in Indy.
