Dallas Cowboys coach announces 2 former Iowa players will have surgery
A pair of former Iowa players now with the Dallas Cowboys will be having offseason ankle surgery. Cowboys coach Mike McCarthy told reporters that Chauncey Golston and Brandon Smith are scheduled for ankle surgery on Thursday, per Michael Gehlken of the Dallas Morning News.

Golston, who earned first-team All-Big Ten honors in his final season at Iowa, was picked by the Cowboys in the third round of the 2021 NFL Draft with the No. 84 overall pick. This season, Golston appeared in 15 games off the bench. A rookie, Golston totaled 30 tackles, including a sack in 2021.
Smith was signed as an undrafted free agent in 2021. This week, he inked to a reserve/futures deal with the club.
