Deacon Hill, former Wisconsin QB, finds new home in B1G West
Deacon Pe’a Hill has a new home for the 2023 season.
Hill announced via his Twitter page that he would be transferring to Iowa. The former Wisconsin quarterback announced his intent to enter the portal following a 6-6 finish in Madison.
Hill will have 3 years of eligibility remaining with the Hawkeyes. Iowa finished 7-5 behind the arm of Spencer Petras and Alex Padillia in 2022.
A former 4-star prospect out of high school by 247 Sports, Hill signed with the Badgers in the 2021 recruiting class over offers from Kansas State, Nevada, and UCLA. He recorded 1 snap in 2022 with Wisconsin, which end up being a 10-yard loss against New Mexico State in a 66-7 win.

The Hawkeyes likely are bringing in Hill for depth purposes. Petras, who started the past 3 seasons, will not return as a player next season. Padilla, who played in 2 games this season, elected to enter the transfer portal following the season finale loss to Nebraska.
Iowa also added former Michigan quarterback Cade McNamara back in December. A 2-year starter for the Wolverines, McNamara threw for 2,576 yards and 15 touchdowns against 6 interceptions during the 2021 season en route to a B1G title and College Football Playoff appearance.
In 2020, McNamara threw for 425 yards and 5 touchdowns with no interceptions in a season that was interrupted by COVID-19 restrictions.
