Former Iowa defensive back Julius Brents has officially announced his transfer commitment.

He’s going to be moving to a different Power Five school as he’ll be playing at Kansas State of the Big 12:

Brents was at Iowa for three seasons before deciding to transfer. He played as a true freshman in 2018 and had 13 total tackles (eight solo) with one interception and three passes defended.

Brents then virtually missed all of the 2019 season due to an injury and then didn’t play much in 2020 either. He only had four tackles (one solo) with one pass defended.

Before committing to Iowa, Brents was considered a three-star prospect on 247Sports and the fourth-ranked player in Indiana. He was also ranked as the 439th ranked player overall for the class of 2018 and the 30th best defensive back.

Brents has at least two years of eligibility left going into the 2021 season.

The departure of Brents is never a good sign. Fortunately, the Hawkeyes do have a graduate transfer defensive back incoming from Northern Iowa for 2021.
