Kirk Ferentz wins coveted Dodd Trophy for coach of the year
Another week, another coach of the year honor for Kirk Ferentz.
This time, the Iowa leader earned the Bobby Dodd Trophy, which is presented annually to the top coach in college football. It marked his fourth national coach of the year honor since the Hawkeyes wrapped up the regular season.
“It is an honor to be recognized with the Dodd Trophy, knowing what this award represents in college football on a national level,” Ferentz said in a release. “I appreciate the recognition for the hard work of our entire coaching staff and every member of our football program and appreciate the acknowledgment of our accomplishments. I am honored to share this recognition with our staff, our players and our great fans and I am grateful to the University of Iowa for providing the necessary support for our success.”

Ferentz trophy shelf is now loaded with some of the highest honors in college football. He already picked up the Eddie Robinson Coach of the Year (FWAA), the Woody Hayes Coach of the Year, presented by the Touchdown Club of Columbus, and the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) Region 3 Coach of the Year.
On top of all of that, he was the B1G Coach of the Year after leading Iowa to its first 12-win season in school history. It also marked the first time that a B1G coach won the award since Lloyd Carr in 2007.
Ferentz will look to cap a memorable 2015 season by leading the Hawkeyes to a victory against Stanford in their first Rose Bowl since 1991.
Kickoff is set for Friday at 5:10 p.m. ET on ESPN.
