Former Iowa basketball player dies at 54
Former Iowa basketball player Michael Reaves died on Friday at his home in Milledgeville, Georgia, according to the University of Iowa Athletic Department. He was 54.
Reaves played for two head coaches — George Raveling and Tom Davis — in the mid 1980s during his time with the Hawkeyes. He was part of a program that won a total of 95 games during his time in Iowa City, reaching the NCAA Tournament all four seasons Reaves was on the team,
In 1987, the Hawkeyes reached the Elite Eight and played in the Sweet Sixteen the following year.
Reaves averaged 5.5 points per game as a senior during the 1987-88 season and set a program record for highest 3-point percentage by a senior at Iowa. He knocked down 29-of-61 shots from behind the arc, a 47.5% clip.
