A former Iowa running back has been signed by an NFL franchise.

Tuesday, the Los Angeles Chargers announced they had signed ex-Hawkeye LeShun Daniels, Jr. to their practice squad after being released earlier this season by the New England Patriots.

Daniels was an undrafted free agent.

Daniels appeared in two games for the Patriots this preseason, logging 85 yards on 26 carries as well as 25 receiving yards. He has not played in a regular season contest.

While at Iowa, Daniels posted 1,895 career rushing yards and scored 19 touchdowns. His best season came in his senior campaign (2016), totaling 1,058 yards and 10 touchdowns on 213 carries.

He played in 37 career games for the Hawkeyes.
