The Los Angeles Rams are adding a bit more Big 10 flare to its roster moving forward.

The Rams are signing former Iowa defensive end Zach VanValkenburg to their practice squad. in a corresponding move, the Rams have released long snapper Matt Overton.

VanValkenburg spent 4 seasons at Iowa before electing to go pro. In 2019, he recorded his first tackle against Middle Tennessee en route to a 48-3 win. He finished the season with 6 total tackles and 2 tackles for loss.

In 3 seasons with the Hawkeyes, VanValkenburg totaled 94 tackles, 23.5 tackles for loss, and 9 sacks. He played in 26 games during his time in Iowa City, playing in all 14 during the 2021 season.

Prior to joining the Rams, VanValkenburg signed as an undrafted free agent with the Las Vegas Raiders. He was waived during the final roster cuts late last month. Earlier this month, VanValkenburg worked out for the Pittsburgh Steelers but was not offered a long-term contract.
