Daviyon Nixon is now officially a member of the Carolina Panthers.

On Thursday, the organization announced that the former Iowa star and B1G Defensive Player of the Year became the second player of the squad’s 11-man draft class to sign on the dotted line. He has agreed to a four-year rookie contract with the Panthers.

Nixon was a fifth-round selection in the 2021 NFL Draft, going No. 158 overall to Carolina. He should be an incredibly valuable pick up for the organization after dominating the B1G a season ago.

At the end of the 2020 season, Nixon racked up the accolades after a big year. He was a first-team All-B1G selection, a unanimous All-American pick and was the B1G Defensive Lineman and Defensive Player of the Year. Nixon was a huge part of Iowa’s 6-2 season, totaling 45 tackles, 13.5 for loss, 5.5 sacks, 1 forced fumble and a pick-six in eight games.

In 2019, Nixon accounted for 29 tackles, 5.5 stops for loss, 3 sacks and a pass break-up.
