One of the most compelling battles that can take place during an NFL training camp is a quarterback battle. Just that is happening in Broncos’ camp right now.

During Denver’s camp thus far, we have seen Teddy Bridgewater and Drew Lock duke it out as they jockey to be the team’s starting quarterback in 2021. One of those players who’s gotten to see the battle up close and personal is tight end and former Iowa star Noah Fant.

Fant is entering his third season in the NFL and with the Broncos. He’s spent the most time with Lock as both came into the league in the same year. But when it comes to discussing the quarterback competition, Fant isn’t showing his cards, according to an interview with KUSA, a TV station in Denver.

“Both have different styles of game,” Fant said. “Everybody knows Teddy is the more thought-out thinker and he’s going to anticipate his throws more. And you have Drew who has that arm talent where he can go on the fly. He can put the ball where he needs it. It just depends what our offensive coordinator is going for, what our coaches are looking for, I think they’re both great quarterbacks.”

Fant continues to support both guys as he talks about what they bring to the table in the locker room.

“In the locker room I’m one of the guys who tries to be friends with everybody,” Fant said. “I try to bring a friendly attitude to everyone who walks in that locker room. Both of those guys are great in the locker room, though. Great leaders. Both of them are super friendly to everybody. They lead the team, lead the huddle. So I’m excited to see what happens.

“My biggest thing is, whichever quarterback can get us the ball, that’s the one I want to be in there,” Fant added with a laugh. “Hopefully, I get a couple extra balls this year.”

Whoever is the quarterback, they will have to look to Fant as one of the top targets. In two NFL seasons he has more than 1,200 receiving yards and 6 touchdowns.
