Fran McCaffery delivers inspiring locker room speech to Iowa hoops following 500th career win
Fran McCaffery earned quite the milestone against an in-state rival. Iowa beat Iowa State 75-56 on Thursday night.
McCaffery earned his 500th career win after beating the Cyclones. McCaffery now posts a record of 500-341 overall throughout his career. Immediately after the final buzzer sounded McCaffery was surrounded by his sons Patrick and Connor.
The Iowa coach has had quite the career and delivered a great postgame speech to his team in the locker room.
βI would say this. I donβt ever consider myself having 500 wins. You guys win. I do the best I can to help you win. This is a special group right here. This profession is one thatβs really built on relationships. My job is to put in a position to win.β

Not only was the win great for McCaffery, but it was great for the team’s morale as well. Iowa was coming off of a tough loss to Duke in the Jimmy V Classic.
Iowa faces Wisconsin next on Sunday at 6:30 p.m. ET on BTN.
