Fran McCaffery felt very proud of his team’s fight in the 91-89 win over Indiana on Thursday. Iowa came back from a large deficit to earn the win.

Iowa was down by more than 20 points at one point in the game. McCaffery thought the win said a lot about Iowa’s character.

“I think it says a lot about the character of our team because you guys have all seen a lot of games over the years, the biggest mistake teams make in a situation like that, you always hear us say, don’t try to get it back all at once. What does that mean? You start quick shooting the ball, you start taking an inordinate amount of threes and then now they’re running it back and they’re dunking the ball and all of a sudden 21 becomes 31 and you have no shot.”

The win moves the Hawkeyes to 9-6 on the year, snapping a three-game losing streak. Iowa’s last loss was a close game to Penn State on New Year’s Day 83-79. It definitely felt good for Iowa to get back on track with a ranked win over the No. 15 team in the country.

Iowa will be preparing for another conference matchup next. The Hawkeyes travel to Rutgers on Sunday for a noon ET tipoff on BTN.
