Fran McCaffery speaks on Payton Sandfort's impact on Iowa following Michigan win: 'Everybody loves him'
Fran McCaffery couldn’t talk enough about how much the team rallies around Payton Sandfort after beating Michigan. Sandfort played a huge role in the 93-84 overtime victory.
Sandfort came off the bench and dropped in 26 points for Iowa. Sandfort also did a great job on the glass, bringing in 7 rebounds.
McCaffery spoke about Sandfort and how the team feeds off the energy the Iowa player brings.
“Everybody loves him. He’s such a great teammate. So positive,” said McCaffery. “We’re all rooting for him. When he’s cooking, it definitely improves the energy level of everyone else.”

Iowa is now 11-6 on the year after taking care of business at home. The Hawkeyes clawed their way back into the game thanks to Sandfort’s efforts. With players like Kris Murray and Sandfort, Iowa could be a dangerous team down the stretch.
