George Kittle gives Chicago Bears advice on what to do with No. 1 pick
George Kittle is preparing to play in another Super Bowl, but he’s also keeping a close eye on the NFL Draft.
Part of that is undoubtedly related to Kittle growing up a fan of the Chicago Bears. So, during a Super Bowl media session Monday night, Kittle was asked if he would draft Caleb Williams with the first overall pick.
Williams remains the heavy favorite to be selected No. 1 overall per the latest odds at BetMGM. However, Chicago would likely need a trade partner for Justin Fields if the franchise wants to take Williams.
“Wow, this is putting me on the spot. All of Chicago, listen to this one,” said Kittle.
He went on to break down Chicago’s best option for the top pick in the draft. Per Kittle, the best option for the Bears is to trade the pick for assets and build things up around Fields.
“Let’s see. I think what the Bears should do is personally trade back, get a lot of picks and build around a guy that they’ve been trying to build around, give the guy some actual options,” Kittle explained. “I mean, he has options, but help him out as much as you can, build him up as much as you can and trust the kid.”
Fields has started 38 games across his first 3 seasons in the NFL, but the Bears have a team have struggled to win games. He has shown signs of progress, but it remains to be seen if Chicago will commit to Fields long-term or opt to try a new rookie QB in Williams.
