George Kittle was sporting Iowa State red on Wednesday, a sore sight for Iowa fans.
Kittle wore Brock Purdy’s Iowa State helmet while meeting with the San Francisco 49ers media on Wednesday in the locker room. Purdy was quick to celebrate his team’s win in the Cy-Hawk rivalry game, and rub it in to Kittle.
“He texted me the score instantly. Thank you, Brock, you ruined my whole weekend,” the former Hawkeye joked.
Kittle confirmed that he had his Iowa helmet ready to go if the Hawkeyes had won, but Iowa State came away with a 20-19 victory in Week 2.

Kittle and Purdy were able to forget their college rivalry and work together on Monday night, as the 49ers defeated the New York Jets 32-19 in San Francisco. Purdy threw for 231 yards in the game, targeting Kittle 5 times for 40 yards on 4 receptions.
Iowa looks to bounce back in Week 3 against Troy. The game is set for a 4 p.m. ET kickoff in Iowa City, airing on FOX Sports 1.
Kittle, Purdy and the 49ers are focused on a trip to Minnesota to face the Vikings in Week 2 (1 p.m. ET, FOX).
