George Kittle is scorching right now, and that’s good news for a San Francisco 49ers offense gearing up for a hopeful run through the NFL Playoffs.

Through Kittle’s first 11 games of the 2022 season, the Iowa product and star tight end had 500 yards receiving but just 4 touchdowns. That has changed since quarterback Brock Purdy entered the lineup.

In last week’s game against the Seattle Seahawks, Purdy utilized Kittle to torch the Seahawks’ defense for 93 yards on 4 catches and 2 big touchdowns. That hot stretch rolled right into Christmas Eve.

Facing the Washington Commanders, Purdy has once again looked to Kittle for big plays in the passing game. After finding Kittle for a 34-yard deep pass early in the third quarter, Purdy looked toward his TE again late in the quarter. This time, the play was a short out-route with Kittle doing damage after the catch.

The play design caught Washington asleep and the blocking was fantastic with Kittle rolling untouched for a 33-yard score.

That game is now in the fourth quarter with Kittle up to 110 yards and a pair of touchdowns on 5 catches.
