'I don't like anybody': Joe Toussaint has perfect response when asked about feelings of Iowa-Illinois rivalry
Joe Toussaint did not mince words when asked about the renewed intensity of the basketball rivalry between Iowa and Illinois.
During the 2019-20 season, the rivalry between the Hawkeyes and Illini ramped up with a couple of hard-fought games. Iowa and Illinois each won a game in the series last season but it was a February win by the Hawkeyes that saw action get increasingly chippy. Illinois won the game in Champaign about a month later.
On Wednesday, Toussaint was asked if he had any negative feelings toward Illinois and if there was an edge in the rivalry. He responded by indicating he doesn’t like anyone he’s going up against when he’s on the court:
“To be honest, I don’t really like anybody, just being honest with you,” said Toussaint. “That’s just how it is in basketball. Off the court, we’re friends, but on the court, I just don’t like anybody at all. So I guess you can say that I don’t like them.”
