In-state kicker with big leg commits to Hawkeyes
Iowa has improved its special teams unit with an addition to the 2020 recruiting class.
Wednesday morning, Aaron Blom, a kicker from Oskaloosa, Iowa accepted a preferred walk-on opportunity with the Hawkeyes. He received interest from the three primary schools in the state: Iowa, Iowa State and Northern Iowa.
Blom decided to be a preferred walk-on at Iowa, passing up on an offer from Northern Iowa, according to Rivals.com. He made his announcement on Twitter:

Blom doesn’t have any recruiting rankings, and typically kickers don’t receive star-ratings from those sites. However, Blom does have a big leg, as he’s knocked down field goal attempts from 50 yards in high school.
He’s also been very consistent on kicks inside 40 yards.
Iowa’s 2020 recruiting class ranks fourth in the B1G and 22nd nationally. The Hawkeyes now have 23 players committed for the cycle.
