The University of Iowa has announced that athletic director Gary Barta will be hosting a press conference on Monday, June 15. The nature of the presser was not mentioned in a message the school sent out on Sunday night.

Barta is scheduled to meet with reporters on Monday afternoon at 1 p.m. CT. It will be the first time the athletic director has spoken with the media since allegations of racial disparities within the football program hit social media just over a week ago.

On Friday, Iowa head football coach Kirk Ferentz and three players — Ivory Kelly-Martin, Kaevon Merriweather and Keith Duncan — spoke with the media regarding the cultural changes the program has addressed over the last week. All four individuals spoke and answered questions.

After several former Iowa football players accused strength and conditioning coach Chris Doyle of mistreatment, Ferentz placed the longtime staff member on administrative leave. There is currently an independent investigation into those allegations and no decision on Doyle’s future has been made at this time.
