Iowa’s home field is as traditional as they come.

But the field design at Kinnick Stadium will get some color in 2017.

The Hawkeyes announced on Monday that there will be a Tigerhawk in the middle of the field beginning this season:

Iowa will install the new Tigerhawk in the middle of the field when the new FieldTurf is laid down in the coming weeks. That’ll mark the first time Iowa used a logo on the playing surface since the conclusion of the 1980 season.

Live coverage of Iowa’s FieldTurf removal and installation process can be seen on a live webcam on hawkeyesports.com/swarm17.

Iowa’s new Tigerhawk will make its debut in the 2017 season opener on Sept. 2 against Wyoming at 11 a.m. CT on Big Ten Network.
