Iowa announces team captains for Saturday's game vs. Northwestern
Iowa has officially named its captains for this weekend’s trip to Evanston.
Tuesday afternoon, the Hawkeyes announced that linebacker Josey Jewell, receiver Matt VandeBerg, offensive lineman Sean Welsh and linebacker Kevin Ward would serve as the team captains against Northwestern.
Unlike several programs, Iowa changes its captains on a weekly basis.

Jewell is the B1G’s leading tackler, posting 70 stops through six games this season. VandeBerg has caught 15 passes for 186 yards and a pair of touchdowns this season. Welsh has been a staple along the offensive line for the Hawkeyes while Ward has tallied six tackles.
Iowa defeated Illinois 45-16 two weeks ago and enjoyed a bye last week. They enter Saturday’s game at 4-2. Northwestern is 3-3 on the year and posted its first B1G victory of the season last week, defeating Maryland 37-21.
The Hawkeyes and Wildcats are scheduled to start at noon ET in Evanston.
