Iowa baseball picked up a commitment, adding an in-state catcher from the junior college ranks.

The player is Cade Moss, a catcher out of Johnston, Iowa. He has spent the past two seasons playing for Kirkwood Community College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

On Saturday, Moss made his announcement for the Hawkeyes:

“I’m excited and proud to announce that I have committed to The University of Iowa to further my education and baseball career,” wrote Moss on Twitter. “Thank you friends, family, and coaches for your support!”

In 50 games during the 2020-21 season, Moss hit .349 with a .449 on-base percentage. He added three home runs, four doubles, and scored 33 runs.

Brett McCleary and Tyler Snep shared the catching load for Iowa this past season with Snep posting a 1.112 OPS in 15 games (12 starts). McCleary appeared in 28 games with a .682 OPS.
