A former North Dakota State punter has decided to return to his home state and play in the B1G.
Monday, Blair Sanderson of Rivals reported that ex-North Dakota State punter Nick Phelps is transferring to Iowa to continue his college football career. He will be a walk-on student-athlete for the Hawkeyes and is expected to start classes on Tuesday.
Phelps is a native of Kingsley, Iowa, so this will be somewhat of a homecoming for the punter.

Phelps was the No. 2 punter for North Dakota State during the 2018 season. He was not listed on the roster this past year. The Bison finished the season winning another FCS championship, completing a 16-0 season.
Phelps used his lone season in Fargo as a redshirt year. He will be immediately eligible for the Hawkeyes in 2020.
