Iowa center James Daniels announced on Friday that he’ll be forgoing his final season with the Hawkeyes and will declare for the 2018 NFL Draft.

Daniels joins cornerback Josh Jackson to declare early entry for the draft. He made his announcement through a Twitter post on Friday morning.

“After praying about this and discussing the options with my family and coaches, I have decided to declare for early entry in the 2018 NFL Draft,” Daniels wrote.

Daniels was a member of Iowa’s 2015 recruiting class and was a four-star center when he arrived in Iowa City. He’s developed into one of the top centers available for the 2018 draft class and has an opportunity to be a relatively high pick in May.

He made 34 career appearances in three seasons for the Hawkeyes.

Iowa finished the year 8-5.
