The question was the same one we’ve asked seemingly every week this season.

Would Iowa get the respect in the poll it deserves?

The response is usually one of two things. It’s either, no, the Hawkeyes aren’t getting love for being undefeated. Or it’s, don’t worry about the polls. Win out and the rest will work itself out.

But for those that are interested in Iowa’s week-to-week standing, the Hawkeyes came in at No. 4 in the latest College Football Playoff poll.

They passed Ohio State, which fell from the ranks of the unbeatens after losing to Michigan State on Saturday. As a result, the Buckeyes were slotted at No. 8 while Michigan State moved up to No. 5.

Important for Iowa was also the fact that Northwestern moved up to No. 16 after continuing its winning streak. But the Wildcats’ win knocked Wisconsin out of the poll, which means the Hawkeyes only have one win against the current top 25.

Iowa will have a chance to cap the regular season undefeated for the first time if it can get past Nebraska in the regular-season finale.

Win or lose, the Hawkeyes have a spot in the B1G Championship on Dec. 5.
