Iowa DB hauls in national honor after big performance vs. Penn State
No. 2 Iowa Hawkeyes defensive back Matt Hankins was named the Bronko Nagurski National Player of the Week following the Hawkeyes 23-20 win over No. 4 Penn State on Saturday. Haskins was also named the B1G Co-Defensive Player of the Week on Monday.

Against Penn State, Haskins had five tackles, including three solos and two assists. He also came away with the Hawkeyes fourth and final interception of the game. His solo tackle on a Penn State fourth-and-three attempt with just over three minutes to play, killed a potential PSU game winning drive.
Haskins has started in 22 straight bame and has 33 career starts. He returned for a fifth-year in 2021 and has totaled 188 career tackles and six interceptions. The Iowa defense has a nation-leading 16 interceptions through six games this season.
Iowa hosts Purdue for its Homecoming on Saturday, Oct. 16, at 2:30 PM on ABC.
