Iowa defensive back Quinn Schulte is gearing up for something special in the 2024 season. On Monday, Iowa confirmed the veteran defender will be among a growing group of key pieces returning in 2024.
Over the weekend, it was revealed star linebacker Nick Jackson decided to exercise a waiver to return to Iowa for a sixth season. Jackson’s eligibility was originally up after spending his first four seasons at Virginia, but he received an NCAA waiver for the 2022 season.
On Monday, the Hawkeyes released a brief clip of Schulte and Jackson celebrating together, confirming Schulte’s plans to return to Iowa City next season.

Getting Schulte back is another major win for Iowa and Phil Parker’s defense moving forward. Iowa will return its top 4 tackles from the 2023 season with Schulte joining Jackson, linebacker Jay Higgins and defensive back Sebastian Castro.
During the 2023 season, Schulte finished with 65 total tackles, an interception and 4 pass breakups. Across the 2022-23 seasons, Schulte has 136 total tackles, 2 interceptions and 10 pass breakups.
All signs currently point to another dominant defensive unit for Kirk Ferentz and the Hawkeyes in 2024.
