Iowa DL coach Kelvin Bell provides Week 8 injury update on Yahya Black
Iowa DL coach Kelvin Bell is getting his group ready to face Minnesota in a second straight rivalry game for the Hawkeyes. However, Bell’s unit could be down a playmaker for Week 8.
During a Wednesday media session, Bell announced veteran Yahya Black did not practice. Black’s status for Saturday is up in the air, and Bell outlined the plans if he is unable to go.
If Black is indeed a scratch for the weekend, the Hawkeyes would roll with a main 3-man rotation of Logan Lee, Aaron Graves and Jeremiah Pittman at defensive tackle. Lee and Graves have already produced strong numbers this season.

Yahya Black did not practice today. Iowa DL coach Kelvin Bell says if Black can’t go Saturday, the DT spot will be absorbed by 3 guys: Logan Lee, Aaron Graves, Jeremiah Pittman.
Indicates Luke Gaffney, Anterio Thompson are close but not yet ready for the rotation.

Black was coming off one of his most disruptive games with the defense and finished the Wisconsin game with 4 tackles, a sack, a pass breakup and a forced fumble. He is 5th on the Hawkeyes with 32 total tackles so far this season.
As for the others in the group, Lee has 30 tackles, 3.5 TFLs and 2 sacks while Graves has 21 tackles, a sack and 3 TFLs. Pittman has not seen as much action with 5 total tackles.
