A 6-foot-2, 220-pound pro-style passer, Lainez has good size. He’s the 5th-ranked player in his home state and the 18th-ranked quarterback in his class. Overall, the 4-star is rated as the 321st prospect in the cycle, per the 247Sports Composite. He becomes the 3rd known commitment in Iowa’s 2023 class.
His MaxPreps page credits Lainez with 21 passing touchdowns against just 2 interceptions for his junior season. Lainez averaged over 18 yards per pass attempt while completing 80% of his throws. Quite the talent to come to Iowa City.
