Iowa football is gearing up for the 2023 season opener, and the Hawkeyes confirmed their first depth chart of the season on Monday.

The quarterback has been of particular interest due to a training camp injury for Cade McNamara. He is listed as QB1 on the depth chart.

Though that doesn’t entirely address McNamara’s injury status, the B1G is officially requiring gameday status reports this season. Deacon Hill is listed as the backup with Joe Labas at No. 3 on the depth chart.

In regard to other newcomers, tight end Erick All is listed behind Luke Lachey on the depth chart, but both players should be utilized a lot this fall. Transfer linebacker Nick Jackson is listed as the starter at WLB.

Kaleb Johnson gets the nod at RB1 for the Hawkeyes while Nico Ragaini and Diante Vines are the starting receivers.

Iowa heads into the season opener against Utah State as heavy favorites over the Aggies. It should be a great opening game for the Hawkeyes and the new-look offense before a Cy-Hawk trip to Ames vs. Iowa State in Week 2.

Saturday’s season-opening kickoff is set for 12 pm ET on FS1.
