Iowa fullback says Hawkeyes offense was motivated to help the defense
Iowa finally got its offense humming on Saturday, defeating Purdue 24-3 on the road. The Hawkeyes are now 5-4 overall and 3-3 in B1G conference play.
Iowa sits at 2nd in the B1G West division with three weeks to play and has an outside shot at the division, albeit the Hawkeyes would need some help.
Iowa fullback Monte Pottebaum had this to say about the team’s offense.
Iowa FB Monte Pottebaum said the offense “got sick of putting everything on the defense” and has been playing with more fire the last two weeks.
“If we can score some points and get out to a lead, our defense is so good, I don’t know who can come back from that.”

The Iowa defense has been stout this year, and the offense has been stagnant at best until Saturday’s performance in West Lafayette, Indiana.
The Hawkeyes have Wisconsin, Minnesota and Nebraska left on the schedule.
If the offense is at least capable of putting up points against their final three opponents, it will be a tough out for the final month of November.
