Iowa has landed a commitment from the transfer market.

On Sunday, Valparaiso graduate transfer Bakari Evelyn announced his commitment to the Hawkeyes. He made his announcement via Twitter.

“I am humbled and honored to announce that I have decided to commit to the University of Iowa,” Evelyn wrote on Twitter. “Thank you to Coach Dillard and Coach McCaffery for the opportunity.”

“Thank you to all the schools who showed interest in recruiting me. I am very appreciative of all your efforts throughout this recruitment process. Me and my family felt that this was the best decision for me and for my future and I am proud to put on the black and gold. Go Hawkeyes!”

As a redshirt junior in 2018-19, Evelyn averaged 8.4 points per game for Valpo. His production took a hit from the 2017-18 campaign (12.4 ppg) because of an offseason surgery.

Evelyn initially started his college career at Nebraska but decided to transfer after his freshman season. Iowa will be his third school at the college level. He will be immediately eligible for the 2019-20 season.
