The University of Iowa released a statement on Monday saying the school is investigating allegations of “inappropriate actions” made toward members of the Hawkeye Marching Band during Iowa’s 18-17 victory over Iowa State on Saturday.

ESPN Senior Writer Heather Dinich first reported the news.

So far, no information has made its way out as to what exactly is being alleged.

“We have contacted Iowa State Athletics and are working to gather additional information,” Iowa AD Gary Barta said in the school’s statement.

“Our main priority is the safety of all Iowa students, staff and coaches when attending events away from Iowa City.”

Navigating two weather delays, the Hawkeyes were able to knock off the Cyclones for their fifth straight win in the rivalry. Interestingly, the last time Iowa State beat Iowa in Ames was 2011.

Senior quarterback Nate Stanley threw for 201 yards and added a touchdown on the ground. Redshirt junior kicker Keith Duncan – who hit a game-winning field goal as time expired vs. Michigan in 2016 – was Iowa’s leading-scorer with four field goals.

Iowa is idle on Saturday before hosting Middle Tennessee on September 28 (12:00PM ET, ESPN2). Iowa State (1-1) faces UL-Monroe (1-1) on Saturday (12:00PM ET, FS1).
