Iowa LB Seth Benson discusses improvements of defense following back-to-back wins
Iowa did not play horribly to start the season, but the Hawkeyes did not look great in starting the season 0-2.
Some of that had to do with offensive miscues and turnovers, though the defense did allow 21+ points in both games. Since then, the results have been much better.
After back-to-back wins, the Hawkeyes have pulled themselves to .500 with a 2-2 record. A large part of that success has been a much improved defensive effort.
In the two wins, Iowa is outscoring its opponents 84-14. The turnover margin in those wins is also +4 to the Hawkeyes.
When discussing the latest performances on Tuesday, linebacker Seth Benson says it all comes down to improving every day. Right now, the defense is simply executing when it comes to learning new things and putting them to work on the field:

For Benson, the sophomore linebacker is second on the team with 28 total tackles, including 16 solo stops. He will look to improve on those numbers as Iowa looks to make it three straight wins against Penn State.
Saturday’s kickoff against the Nittany Lions is set for 3:30 pm EST on BTN.
