Seth Benson is having a strong year for the Hawkeyes!

The sophomore linebacker is already an impact player for the Iowa defense. Entering Saturday’s showdown with Nebraska, Benson was second on the team with 36 total tackles on the year.

Early in the first quarter, Benson added to his season total by nabbing his first career sack. It came on a third-down play with Nebraska quarterback Adrian Martinez under pressure early. He scrambled but was quickly taken down by Benson.

Coming out of high school, rating services were not very high on Benson. He was listed as just a two-star prospect and the No. 100 LB nationally for 2018 by the 247 Sports Composite Rankings.

Benson saw limited action and recorded 11 tackles as a true freshman in 2019, but he has made the jump in a big way this season. He is definitely a key member of the Hawkeyes and should be a special player to watch moving forward.
