Iowa suffered a big blow on the recruiting trail on Tuesday afternoon.

The Hawkeyes lost a commitment from 4-star offensive tackle prospect Nick Brooks. He was previously Iowa’s top-ranked commit in the class of 2025.

Here’s his announcement:

Brooks is an Iowa native. He attends John F. Kennedy High School in Cedar Rapids. He’s listed at 6-foot-7, 345 pounds. Brooks had been committed to Iowa since September of this year.

He’s the No. 163 overall player and the No. 16 offensive tackle in the country for the class of 2025, per 247Sports Composite rankings. He’s also the No. 1 player from the state of Iowa in that cycle.

Brooks has offers from some of the top programs in the country, including Alabama, Georgia, Florida State and others. He also visited Texas Tech this past weekend prior to making the decision to back away from his commitment to Iowa.

It’s still early in the 2025 recruiting cycle, so it’s possible the Hawkeyes will get back in the mix in his recruitment.

Iowa is now down to just two commits in the class of 2025. The class sits at No. 29 nationally, according to 247Sports Composite rankings.
