Iowa loses Cy-Hawk game to Iowa State in devastating fashion
Iowa fell to Iowa State 20-19 on Saturday afternoon.
The Hawkeyes led for almost the entire game, but Iowa State made a late charge thanks to a pair of long field goals in the closing minutes. Iowa State kicker Kyle Konrardy made a 54-yard field goal with just 6 seconds remaining to give the Cyclones the lead.

Iowa didn’t score on any of its final 6 drives of the game. The Hawkeyes managed just 23 total yards across those 6 drives, with the final play being an interception as time expired.
Iowa’s last real offensive possession resulted in Iowa State gaining possession with just 34 seconds on the clock. The Cyclones were able to get the ball into field goal range and kick the game-winner thanks to a 5-play, 42-yard drive.
This is a result that could have significant College Football Playoff implications. Iowa was ranked this week and could presumably earn an at-large berth out of the Big Ten. Iowa State could also get into at-large territory with a great season, but is also now one of the favorites to win an automatic berth out of the Big 12.
Iowa State has now won 2 of the last 3 meetings in this series.
