Iowa is reeling from a 35-7 loss to Ohio State this past week, but now they are now having to deal with some roster issues as RB Leshon Williams announced on social media that he was entering the transfer portal.

Williams was an important part of the team the past 2 years, as he has rushed for 1,234 of his 1,324 career yards. He was a huge part of the run game last season, finishing with a team-high 821 yards and named an honorable-mention All-B1G running back.

He sustained an injury and has been recovering but has lost his spot on the depth chart moving forward with only 11 carries for 21 yards on the season. Running back Kaleb Johnson has been terrific this year, as he is currently 2nd in the NCAA with 771 yards. He has stepped up and become the focal point for the Hawkeyes offense, while younger running backs Kamari Moulton and Jaziun Patterson have continued to get reps as well.

This isn’t the first Hawkeyes player to make a decision today, as wide receiver Kaleb Brown announced that he would be redshirting the rest of the year. He didn’t make an announcement on whether or not he would be entering the transfer portal.

Iowa was reminded today there is a new norm in college football, and this type of thing is going to continue to happen.
