Iowa football hosts Michigan in a rematch of the 2021 B1G Championship on Saturday. The program announced its honorary captain for the bout Thursday afternoon.
Brad Banks, the legendary Iowa quarterback and 2002 AP Player of the Year, earned the nod. The former first-team All-B1G selection should earn a heavy ovation from the Hawkeye faithful.
This week’s Honorary Captain is the great @BRADBANKS7!
In 2002, he was named the @AP Player of the Year, @B1Gfootball MVP, First Team All-B1G and won the @daveyobrien Award as the nation’s best quarterback.#Hawkeyes pic.twitter.com/qv6mhI3hnD

Banks played 2 years at Iowa, but was especially dominant in 2002, as noted above. He threw for 2,573 yards and 26 touchdowns in an offense that featured Fred Russell rushing for over 1,000 yards ad 9 touchdowns.
